The North Pole Community Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the Days of Christmas Past Fundraiser Dinner, set to take place on January 18, 2025 at 6pm. This special event will be held at Hotel North Pole and aims to support the construction of the new North Pole Welcome Center. The highlight of the evening will be the esteemed presence of Joanie Skilbred, local historian extraordinaire, who will serve as the guest speaker. Joanie, a born and raised North Pole resident, will share the intriguing storyline and images of North Pole. Attendees can also anticipate a delightful appearance by the one and only Santa Claus.
Guests will savor an exquisite full-course meal presented by Whiskey Butter Chef Kristy Byall, which will include tantalizing appetizers such as tomato bisque, crab cakes, and white bean succotash. For the main course, guests can indulge in their choice of braised short ribs or baked French onion chicken, accompanied by delectable side dishes. A scrumptious dessert of beignets will complete the dinner. A silent auction will also be held during the event.
In line with our theme, “Christmas of the Past,” attendees are encouraged to dress in period cocktail attire, with a particular emphasis on life in Alaska during the 1960s. The evening promises not only a memorable culinary experience but also enchanting music and a complimentary commemorative wine glass for each guest.
The purpose of this fundraiser dinner is to create a Welcome Center that will serve as more than just an information hub for visitors. It will empower new residents, businesses, and young people entering the labor force. Additionally, it will provide support for mental health, family resiliency, and the preservation of Alaskan culture, pioneers, founders, and the historic military relationship.
